The program sponsored two teachers at Sannikot Primary School in Achham. The project was conducted in collaboration with the local NGO – Malika Development Organisation.
Sannikot Primary School is a Government run School. In Nepal, the Government supported School means only the Salary for limited Teachers are borne by the Government. The Communities must provide their contribution for the construction of School Buildings and other facilities. The community started this School in 1990 with 50 students. Before Government gives approval for the School, the community has to run the School by themselves without getting any support from the Government for at least one year. After one year only a Teacher was supported with Salary from Government till 5 years period.
There are 3 big sizes and 6 small size classrooms for 340 Students in the School. The primary education is given till year five. There are seven teachers in the School. The community has to manage the salary for 4 teachers on their own. When the Government will give support to these teachers was uncertain. The villagers found it very difficult to bear the salary of these four teachers. This was when we came in and lend a helping hand as much as possible by supporting two teacher for 3 years.
